# Calculate statistical mode in Pig

How would I calculate the statistical mode of a dataset in Apache Pig, without using a UDF?

Here is a version which finds only one result per key:

This version will find all equally frequent values for the same key:

Write an Eval Function User-Defined Function for `MODE`.

Pig, in general, has a very limited number of evaluation functions and when you start doing things a bit more complicated than min/max/count, you need to get comfortable with writing UDFs.
