I'm rather learning by doing so it might be a stupid question but I couldn't find any answer.

I have an JSF application which worked well as used with simple JDBC.

Take an example of the "domain.xhtml", which had a table listing elements from a "DomainController" bean. It was all working great then we switched to JPA. That controller has to use services so it's declared as @Component and includes (@Autowired) services from there. It also works well EXCEPT that all my JSF injections (@ManagedProperty) are not injected anymore, my @PostConstruct is not called anymore either.

Is there something I missed, or is wrong with that manner to proceed ?

I don't do Spring, so I won't answer this, but I can tell you that @ManagedProperty is a JSF specific annotation which works only in JSF-managed beans and for sure not at all in a Spring-managed bean. You need the Spring-specific equivalent @Autowired instead. Choose the one or the other framework to manage your beans and do not mix them. –  BalusC Jan 3 '13 at 18:21

For all the talk of JPA, I see nothing JPA in your post. No JPA API, no JPA annotations. This is a Spring - JSF problem so suggest removing the JPA tag –  DataNucleus Jan 3 '13 at 20:02
    
You're probably safer injecting the spring bean into a separately defined JSF managed bean. You should also note that your bean is not declaratively scoped and that defaults to @NoneScoped. Not sure if that will affect it, but you do have a weird mix of things here –  kolossus Jan 4 '13 at 0:37
    
@kolossus: I believe the instance being created and used is actually Spring-managed, so the @Component counts and the @ManagedBean is ignored. That also explains why @ManagedProperty "doesn't work". –  BalusC Jan 4 '13 at 1:50
    
@BalusC aha. I would have imagined both annotations would peacefully coexist and both contexts will claim what is theirs :). It's messy design anyways –  kolossus Jan 4 '13 at 1:55

Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't see how I could just choose one, as Spring manages the back-end and JSF(+primefaces) the front-end.

I thought that the controller "could" have been the interface between the two, that's why I naively mixed them.

After some testing around your comments, I made my controller only use JSF and it injects the services using @ManagedBean (I didn't know either that using @ManagedBean it could inject a @Service Spring-managed bean) so that answers my question :)

Below is the corrected code working.
