I don't think I know my Cursor very well I'm almost sure my code is probably wrong so I'm going to link my whole code

android.database.CursorIndexOutOfBoundsException: Index -1 requested, with a size of 1

You forgot to call cursor.moveToFirst(), but you should also verify that the Cursor isn't empty with:

// Returns false if the Cursor cannot move to this position, i.e. empty
if(cursor.moveToFirst()) {

Other personal favorite over while or do-while loops iterating over a cursor is a for loop.

for (cursor.moveToFirst(); !cursor.isAfterLast(); cursor.moveToNext()) {
}
cursor.close();
