I am new to Spring and I am trying to create a login page that uses Apache Tomcat 7, SQL Server, Spring MVC, and Hibernate 3. The error I am getting is this:

JpaUserInfoRepository is used by UserInfoServiceImpl but I don't see you posted any class with that name, only JpaAccountRepository. Could it be that you mixed-up the two somehow? If not, then you should post JpaUserInfoRepository. –  yair Jan 8 '13 at 20:23

Add @Transactional to appropriate method of your service (or controller if you don't have service layer)

It looks like your repository/service is missing starting a transaction.

You can put this on your class or on each method depending on how you want to do it

@Transactional(readOnly = true)

Your save method would have readOnly set to false.

Then in your spring application context define the following.

I take it that the "spring application context" is the root-context.xml file? I don't have a tx namespace currently in either the web.xml nor root-context.xml, what is the url for tx namespace? –  Sam Carleton Jan 8 '13 at 16:16
    
Ok, I find this: xmlns:tx="springframework.org/schema/tx"; and added that, along with the context and tx lines you suggested to the root-context.xml and I am getting the same error. –  Sam Carleton Jan 8 '13 at 16:27

Ok, I added the component-scan before the tx:annotation-driven. I tried it at the end, then at the beginning. I tried it with the com.accumed.protracking.repository before and after the tx:annotation-driven, nothing seems to work. I have updated the root-context.xml to my latest configuration. –  Sam Carleton Jan 8 '13 at 20:17

Your Repository class doesn't seem to match the one being injected into your service (AccountRepository vs. UserInfoRepository) -- but I suspect the problem is that you aren't injecting a reference to the Hibernate session factory. Try adding this to your repository:

I am starting to look at the documentation and trying to get this to run via the configuration, not attributed method. I removed all attributes from the repository and then added this to the root-context.xml, Tomcat won't run now. @SamCarleton you should also remove the @Resource from JpaUserInfoRepository.setSessionFactory() because a reference should be defined only in one way: either annotations or xml. –  yair Jan 9 '13 at 21:39
