I have an error on my console => Uncaught TypeError: Cannot read property 'maxHeight' of null.

Well I think it's a problem with the version of jQuery but I don't know how to resolve this, if you can help me. jQuery version : 1.4.2

Validate the variable maxHright before accessing it:

if (prt.data("options").maxHeight != null)
{
    // access the variable
}

You can write a validation routin for the container object: options or prt.data("options"), which you can use every time. –  CloudyMarble Jan 11 '13 at 12:56

You have an object, let say options, you need to validate te height, speed etc, so instead of doing this all over in program you can write a routine which receives an object of type options and validate all variables inside, you may consider settign a default values once a value is missing. –  CloudyMarble Jan 11 '13 at 13:25
