I am sure there could be a lot simpler way to find a different name among the two given names. I have a script, that colors the matching percentage in a table if there are two different samples matches very closely.

But I would like to fine tune them - to color the percentage only when the sample is entirely different.

For example: if SD0098a matches to SD0098[b-z] Doesn't need to be in a different colour but SD0098a matches to SD0097[a-z] should be given a alert color.

I have a code something like this:

So According to this Example I would like to give the resulting percentage some alert color if the sample SD0098[a-c] matches to any of the SD0097[a-b] with more than 90 %. Thanks for any tips and suggestions.

Output would be something like this in a table format. Its a webpage output.(Just a model output not the exact output) :

Please, post only relevant code, stripped to be the shortest possible. Your script has no output - what do you want to output and how - to a terminal, to a web page, somewhere else? – choroba Jan 15 '13 at 16:07
    
That's the shortest I can get , I haven't included the other dependencies like JS or CSS to this. And Yes, this is to the webpage. The output would be a table with samples on both the headers and the first column and the relevant percentage for each sample. – user1958532 Jan 15 '13 at 16:32

I think String::Similarity can helps you. If I understand you correctly, you need do approximate string matching
