I'm a new programmer working on a memory game for my computer science summative. I'm basically done but I really want to get the game to play music while the user is playing. I finally got the music to play, but unfortunately now the screen is just blank and I have no idea why.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks:)

while pygame.mixer.music.get_busy():
   # check if playback has finished
   clock.tick(30)

Here you have a while loop that finishes when the song is done playing. What was your intention of using that while loop?

It should work just fine, if you remove the whole loop.

A small tip: Use functions to encapsulate and remove repeating code.

Example: instead of using

text=font.render("This is how the game goes: The", True, WHITE)
screen.blit(text, [10, 10])

create a function

def writeText(screen,text,pos):
    text=font.render(text,True,WHITE)
    screen.blit(text,pos)

then you can use writeText("This is how the game goes:",(10,10))

Thank you for you answer. When you mean remove the loop, does that mean I should only remove the word 'while' and then unindent everything? Because that's what I did but its still not working........ Do you think I should make the whole program a while loop? –  newuser Jan 19 '13 at 21:10
    
both the while condition and the clock.tick() since, you already are ticking the clock later on. –  Bartlomiej Lewandowski Jan 19 '13 at 21:15
