i have this desktop application that i created through a MSDN tutorial (i cant find the link, otherwise i would have linked it). what it does , it lets you put in the channel URL needed to connect to the WIndows Phone Emulator, and through the application you can send live tile updates, : here is the code for both the emulator (listener), and the service sending the data. :

now as you can see there is a part of code that says "//Create the toast message",

how do i get that toast to be sent with the tile update? so that when the toast message gets through, the tile updates aswell with the same info i types in the page.

at the moment only the tile gets updated.

You won't see a toast notification when your application is open. Listen for the PushNotificationReceived event to intercept push notifications when your application is running.

Hi, yes that was the tutorial. your example worked fine!, but what i did to get the app running the way i needed it to, i made an extra button on page that says send toast notification and on that button event i just changed the xml envelope that gets sent through and worked fine. on the listener app i just put the code 'bindtoshelltoast' and 'bindtoshelltile'. but thanks, yes your way is the right way to do it, i just had other need with this app! thanks! –  Arrie Feb 5 '13 at 9:16
    
Are you sure this example sent both toast and tile at the same time ? It didnt work for me. plus the NotificationClass in the headers has a specific value for each type and 1 means its tile ? –  Nada Naoushi May 2 '13 at 13:58

I am not sure you can combine both messages in a single packet. Even so, your XML isn't valid as it is missing a closing tag –  noggin182 Jun 7 '13 at 10:23
