I made an app for ipad which contains image dragging and video recording.

It takes screenshots as recording starts and after that makes movie by appending them.

When i record video of 5 to 10 seconds , it works fine. But as i try to record video of 1 minute or more, it crashes and gives "Received memory warning" in log.

I have used the following code ;

You are creating a image context 5 times per second. That could be the problem.

Try reusing your UIGraphicsImageContext by saving it as an ivar or property.

Yes i am creating 5 screenshots per second, cant go less than that. Even the UIGraphicsImageContext won't work for me. –  rohan panchal Feb 7 '13 at 13:13
    
You should definately create 5 per second :-) What I meant was that you should reuse the context, instead of creating a new one every time you take a screenshot! –  Kasper Welner Feb 9 '13 at 1:43

Call UIGraphicsBeginImageContextWithOptions once in -(void)startRecording. Not sure it will work though, since your UI is updating at the same time. Only one way to find out :-) –  Kasper Welner Feb 19 '13 at 17:06

I had a similar problem in case of Capturing Pictures, practically, I have seen the problem with the NOT RELEASED UIImage objects, which occupies most of the memory, here is a fix you can try

    UIGraphicsBeginImageContext(self.view.bounds.size);
    [self.view.layer renderInContext:UIGraphicsGetCurrentContext()];

    viewImage = UIGraphicsGetImageFromCurrentImageContext();
    UIGraphicsEndImageContext();
    imageData = UIImageJPEGRepresentation(viewImage, 1.0);
    [imageData writeToFile:frameName atomically:YES];
    [viewImage release];

}

I have tried releasing UIIMAGE objects , but still the app crashes with the same reason. –  rohan panchal Feb 8 '13 at 4:59
