I am creating alarm alert for appointment reminder for that I am using following code.Code is working very well it showing me alarm alert but only problem is that, it is not differentiate alarm between am and pm, suppose if I set alarm for 7am and currently 7pm in device then also my alert dialog shows. How can I manage that am and pm? I used this link for ref

You are not handling the AM/PM. Just put these lines of code...

int timeDifference=0; 
String ampm=splitampmtime[1]; 
if(ampm.matches("PM")){ 
timeDifference=12; 
} 

int splithour = timeDifference+Integer.parseInt(splitstrtime[0]); 
String[] splitsecond = splitstrtime[1].split(" ");

Well you can add the check for AM and PM in your save.setOnClickListener() and change the value of hour accordingly:

save.setOnClickListener(new OnClickListener() {
    @Override
    public void onClick(View v) {
        .....

        int splithour = Integer.parseInt(splitstrtime[0]); //10
        String[] splitsecond = splitstrtime[1].split(" "); //40, am

i used u logic but may be u r not getting my point. My alarm is showing me alert on 7pm if i set alarm for 7am,so how to clear that? –  Kirti Feb 9 '13 at 9:34
    
GregorianCalendar calendar = new GregorianCalendar(year,month,day, hour, minute); in this line if i pass 7am then alarm is not working if i pass 19pm then it works only for pm it works not for am dont know what is issue –  Kirti Feb 9 '13 at 11:46
    
I totally understand your point, tell me what the value of splithour hour which you pass in ;new GregorianCalendar(intyear, intmonth, intday, splithour, splitmin);'? If it is 7 then it will be called at 7am but for value 19 it will be called at 7pm.. my code is to change the hour value depending on AM/PM which you require in ur case –  Waqas Feb 10 '13 at 5:11
    
new GregorianCalendar(2013, 1, 11, 7, 20); if i pass values like this than i am facing a problem that alarm alert is fired instantly after pressing the save button. and if i pass values like this new GregorianCalendar(2013, 1, 11, 19, 20) than it works perfectly that means it is not taking am value –  Kirti Feb 11 '13 at 5:26
    
i used your code it works but only for the pm purpose not for am because condition was like that if splithour==12 than only it will be converted into Zero –  Kirti Feb 11 '13 at 5:29

Please use:-

alarmManager.set(AlarmManager.ELAPSED_REALTIME_WAKEUP,
                                SystemClock.elapsedRealtime() + alarm_time,
                                operation);

in place of

alarmManager.set(AlarmManager.RTC_WAKEUP, alarm_time, operation);

Read:-

SystemClock.elapsedRealtime() is the current time in millis add the total time to skip from now to alarm in millis.
