I can't figure out how to write a code for the main method, so that I would be able to store the selections of Months made by user in the String[] stringValues. This is my class MultipleIntervalSelection:

The following is my main class:

The main method would execute, but there is no result in the console. I need the names (String values) of the months that were chosen by the user be saved in my String[] stringValues. Please, anybody, help mest

If the JFrame were instead a JOptionPane or a modal JDialog the result might be as you expect. See How to Use Modality in Dialogs for details. BTW - package february; Odd package name for a class that lists monthS of the year. I would expect something more like package months; –  Andrew Thompson Feb 14 '13 at 6:39
    
In fact your program only starts "GUI thread" called EDT (Event Dispatcher Thread). This thread is permanent and never stops until not ends your program (for example with System.exit(0)). –  Sergiy Medvynskyy Feb 14 '13 at 6:57

JDialog is helpful, but you can use JFrame either. Here is the code I wrote for you:

Also, create a main class that will use the "public boolean VerifyButtonPressed()". This is the easiest way you can do the same work without JDialog.

You have two options. Instead of using a JFrame you could use a JDialog.

A modal dialog will stop your programs execution at the the point it is made visible until it is closed.

The other option is to use JOptionPane, which is significantly simpler...

Thank You for answer. It works on its own. I have deleted the main method in it, and created another class. Please, correct my main method code. My version of MultipleIntervalSelection is returning a list (as per Java 7 requirements). You could re-code the method to return an array of String by using JList#getSelectedValues or using thing.months.getSelectedValuesList().toArray(new String[0]); –  MadProgrammer Feb 14 '13 at 23:09
