I am trying to: use Simple Membership provider based authentication with MySQL using ASP.NET MVC 4 default web application configured to use MySQL using the tutorial given at: http://www.nsilverbullet.net/2012/11/07/6-steps-to-get-entity-framework-5-working-with-mysql-5-5/

and here at ASP.NET MVC 4 EF5 with MySQL

I am using MySQL Connector 6.6.4 with EF 5.0 and Visual Studio 2012 and working with an ASP.NET MVC 4 Internet application template.

The errors i am facing is this:

You need to confirm the queries your trying to use actually work. Because the error your getting indicates they are not correct. Besides you didn't even post the code with the actual query in it why? –  Ramhound Feb 19 '13 at 14:19
    
I have not written any query at all. If there is any code, its inside the SimpleMembership provider implementation. I am using the template defaults, i donot have any queries written at all in my code. It is the default ASP.NET MVC4 Internet Application template that works seamlessley with SQL Server and i am trying to configure the same with MySQL. If you follow the urls i have provided, you will know what i mean. –  Steve Johnson Feb 19 '13 at 14:25
    
You are going to need to implement your own provider if you want to use MySQL as your database backend. The error is clear the query that is being used currently is flawed. –  Ramhound Feb 19 '13 at 14:26

From a linked page on the blog: But beware the MySql providers do not currently support the ASP.NET 4.5 templates since those templates use ExtendedMembershipProvider and SimpleMembershipProvider and they have an internal dependency on MS SQL Server. so actually they implemented their own provider. nsilverbullet.net/2012/11/06/… –  Ramhound Feb 19 '13 at 16:05

I provided an answer on a similar question here: Using Simple Membership Provider with mysql It's based on a article from Fabio Costa I found here: http://fabiocanada.ca/2012/11/24/use-simplemembership-and-oauth-with-any-database-and-datatype/. You basically get the source code, update it to your needs (let it write mysql queries instead of sql) and use that.

It may be true that you can use MySQL with EF, as I do this myself, but it seems that the Simple Membership Provider is not supported.

Please have a look at https://mysqlmembershipprovider.codeplex.com/

and the providers are implemented using EF too, and default build on .NET 4.5.
