I'm setting up my Apache server on my freshly installed Ubuntu server and I have this problem. .htaccess files work perfectly when accessing the virtual hosts by their domain names but when I access my server through its IP address .htaccess dosn't work and all the folders are listable.

Here is my apache2.conf file

And here is my https.conf file which doesn't seem to have any effect.

Any ideas? What should I do?

Solved! It was the default site. a2dissite default made it right. – sherlockth Feb 24 at 19:24
