I am trying to pass several values between 2 activities but my code is crashing and I have no idea why. The code is called from an image button, but the app just stops.

The receiving code looks like this (not that I ever get that far...)

I have also tried creating my own bundle like this:

        b.putString("Callsign", tv1.getText().toString());
        b.putInt("mx", mx);
        startabout.putExtras(b);

receiving like this:

    Bundle b = getIntent().getExtras();

    String callsign = b.getString("Callsign");

    int mx = b.getInt("mx");

But it still crashes with very similar logcat output. tvcallsign.setText(callsign);

Please paste the logcat trace. Also - FYI - the line mx = mx++ can be simplified to simply mx++. This increments mx and assigns the value back to itself, so the mx = part is redundant. – Phil Feb 26 '13 at 23:56

It is something to do with the way the string value is being passed. If i comment this out then the app doesnt crash. – andy Feb 27 '13 at 14:22
    
Its clearly Caused by: java.lang.NullPointerException. Do paste full activity code of both activities. – Anurag Shukla Feb 27 '13 at 15:01

Assuming your code and the StackTrace are aligned, you see the following line in the trace:

at com.nexgen.threedashone.trainer.RTOShooting.onCreate(RTOShooting.java:40)

Simply counting rows in RTOShooting I end up here:

tvcallsign.setText(callsign);
tvcallsign = (TextView) findViewById(R.id.tvcallsign);

You are trying to set the text of an object you are trying to find in the next row. Swap them and all should probably go well.
