what if iam distributing internet to the whole colony and neighbouring colony and dont choose wires because they are not cheap and can be stolen.

iam just here for some vision

Lan > wifi router > computers. is normal.
is there a way for LAN > wires > wifrouter > No wires > wifirouter > No wires > wifirouter > computers ?, so one wifi can be connected to another wifi without wires, and then another to the 2nd one and the third can supply internet to more computers?, is it a good idea? for that purpose , extending range (rather than making a net of cables (thats what normal people do))

what is best. repeaters, or wifi routers what are cheaper in price and good at reboosting signals ? any more ideas please?

It depends on distances but of course it is possible to create such radio link using wifi. Use directional antennas and routers with more than one radio module.

Look at that equipment: Ubiquiti and MikroTik it's quite cheap and is dedicated for wireless ISP networks.

More about strategy: I would create subnetwork for every access area to limit broadcast domain. Interconnect access areas with wifi links one-to-one. The one-to-one links will create backbone network.

So it could look like:

Users1 <--- 1. ---> Router1 <--- 2. ---> Router2 <--- 1. ---> Users2

Where 1. is 'classic' WiFi access point and 2. is peer-to-peer link. Internet link might be connected to Router1. So if user from group Users2 wants to connect to internet the traffic will go through router 1 and 2. Every router might have more that one both 1. and 2. links.


  • it's cheaper than cable network, especially when there are big distances between users
  • fast to setup


  • Cable solution is more robust and has bigger bandwidth
  • Antennas must 'see' each other so in some cases it's not possible to establish radio link

In general creating such network might be good idea in rural area.

Wireless is not better than wired connection. The wired connection is much faster. Apart from that, wired connections do not have shady areas with poor connection. You can put as many repeaters are you like, but the connection will never be as good as through a regular switch. Apart from that, if you are connecting access points to each other via WIP for repeating, the speed will already be slower than through a cabled switch/router.

If you are to make a network built of access points, then at least connect each of them via cable, so that they could provide the quickest connection.
