I have a problem with GL_REPEAT and GL_CLAMP when generating a texture in OpenGL. In my following code I get same result(its always repeated) with GL_REPEAT and GL_CLAMP ... I dont see any difference in my code with the the ones in many of the tutorials. Please help me finding this mistake. I tried increasing the image size from 4 till 128 .. but still not difference between GL_CLAMP and GL_REPEAT

You will not see a difference unless your texture coordinates are outside of the range 0 to 1. Otherwise there is nothing to clamp or repeat.

I have one more question ..The method you described when I am drawing polygons by myself ... but when working with gluCylinder() .. how do we get the same effect we get by putting bigger numbers in glTexCoord2f() ... –  AdityaG Mar 7 '13 at 18:47

Preferably, stop using all the old functions and build your geometry using vertex buffers, where you have complete control over everything - a cylinder is easy to generate. However, the old way to do that would be to use a texture matrix to scale the coordinates. –  JasonD Mar 7 '13 at 18:54
