I'm trying to develop a library which takes an array of images and returns a scrollView with the images each side by side.

However when I add this scrollView, which I'm returning to my main view, it doesn't add the images. Images are correct.

My idea is to use a scrollview with each image side by side and using the scroller to show like a slide show. Firstly, is this concept okay?

Secondly, I do not understand why the images are not shown when I run the application in the simulator.

Any more details required please ask.

Check whether your self is getting created or not, in if (self) conditional statement written next to setBackgroundColor –  Mrunal Mar 18 '13 at 13:40
    
Why do you allocate a new HCIImageSlideShowView object within your init method? AFAIK it should be sufficient just calling self = [super initWithFrame:...]; Depending on what you do with the self returned and whether you use IB or not this may be ok. But you risk to end up with two HCIImageSlideShowView, one that is properly set up but not shown and an empty one that is shown. –  Hermann Klecker Mar 18 '13 at 13:42
    
yes. Self is getting created. On the screen its actually showing the back ground colour. However, the images are not displayed. Neither the scrollbar. –  Ravi Vooda Mar 18 '13 at 13:42
    
BTW, even if you do need to alloc a new object of the same type within this init method, which is "legal", then _width does not refer to the instance that is newly created but to the instance that was created and called before. Better use some public accessor for setting witdh. The same applies to bounds.size.with. That belongs to the original object, not to the newly created one. But frankly, I guess that you are far better off without the additional alloc statement. –  Hermann Klecker Mar 18 '13 at 13:48

There seems to be a lot wrong with your code - especially your initialiser. Here is a commented version

As your initialisation code needs some rearranging, I did not look too closely at defaultLoad - however I do have a couple of observations...

(1)

CGRect imageBounds = CGRectMake(i * _width, self.bounds.size.height, _width, self.bounds.size.height);

Should be

    CGRect imageBounds = CGRectMake(i * _width,0, _width, self.bounds.size.height);

Otherwise your images are all placed offscreen beneath your scrollView's height.

You need to set a contentSize so that the scrollView can scroll

The other more general comment is that this is OK for a few images, but you wouldn't want to be making a scrollView with a large array of offscreen imageViews as you will eat up memory. You actually only need three, for the image currently on screen, and the previous and next images to the left and right. The idea is to load your images only when you may need them, and recycle your imageViews much the way a tableView works.

You should take a look at Apple's Photoscroller sample app along with it's accompanying WWDC 2010/11 video(s) and slides

Don't worry about all of the details on tiling and zooming, it's good to get the general principle of keeping object creation to a minimum and recycling/reusing objects where feasible.

By the way, you may not need a custom scrollView object at all: you can achieve most of what you are after in a few lines of code from your calling viewController object. eg...

Thanks for the change, but still that doesn't solve my problem. The images are not showed. Actually by setting the imageview's background color I came to know that hte UIImageView 's are not added. Can this help anything? –  Ravi Vooda Mar 18 '13 at 14:13
    
Well then I would check the output of [HCIResultListViewController resizeImage:...] witin the loop of defaultLoad. Does it really return an UIImage object? Is a proper UIImage object handed in? –  Hermann Klecker Mar 18 '13 at 14:51
