First time poster so please be kind if I jack something up here...
I am trying to create a statistical process control chart to my liking using the qcc package in R. I am almost there, but cannot get the x axis tick marks to behave. The code is pasted below. My goal is to get the xlab vector to show as the x axis tick marks, but I cannot get it to work correctly. The labels will show up, but the xaxt="n" does not remove the old labels. I think it is something to do with the way qcc packages the data for plotting. I will eventually want to change the y axis as well (want it to show the values currently there, but multiplied by 1000), but the yaxt="n" statement does not work either.
I have tried a few workarounds too that I have not gotten to work (e.g. drawing a box to blank out the margin, changing the font color to gray to match the margin color, etc.). It appears that the package is plotting the dimnames(obj4$data) as the x axis labels, so I tried to modify the dimnames, but they are packaged in a list with another variable "samples" which is set to NULL. I couldnt coerce R into letting me recode the dimnames to match what i have in xlab.
Any assistance is greatly appreciated! It doesnt matter to me if it is a workaround or not, I just need the old x labels to go away and for it to show the months/years listed in xlabs. I am assuming whatever fix works for the x tick labels will work for the y as well.
