i am compling this simple boost::asio asynchronous server and its failing with this error, any ideas?

where is acceptor declared? its complaining that your calling an object without declaring it. – andre Mar 20 '13 at 20:30
    
sorry my fault, acc is now declared in main(), but its still failing – krisdigitx Mar 20 '13 at 20:33

Make acc global (not recommanded), or pass it to the function:

The acc variable is only in scope in main. You need to make it a global variable - of define everything in a class.

Ok, so I wrote that for a somewhat newer version. You need to find the appropriate class in the API for that version of boost. For example, the v4 class seems to be named address_v4 in that version - possibly even in a different namespace. Looking at an example should be enough to find what you need. – fredrik Mar 27 '13 at 20:55

What fredrik and MM. say.

Since start_accept depends on handle_accept and vice versa, you will have to forward declare one. In your code, forward declare handle_accept before start_accept.

Probably you just want to pass the sock parameter on to start_accept? The function looks pretty senseless, though.

Additionaly, I have to say that without being able to read such quite basic compile errors you are gonna have a hard time with asio and boost in genral.
