I have some problems with the following c++ code

I'm using VC++ and now I'm trying to compile the following MFC-based project

This is a source file winmfcproectum.cpp

I've created non-empty Win32 project with use of MFC in a Shared DLL,

resource.h and targetver.h were created automatically, I don't post them here.
Because stdafx.h is precompiled, stdafx.cpp was automatically created as well

Now my problem is, it looks like COurApp class is invisible inside winmfcproectum.cpp, although I've included winmfcproectum.h, so if I comment those constructor & function implementations, i.e. COurApp::COurApp() and COurApp::InitInstance(), and also a variable declaration between them, everything compiles well

As the linker says it can not find classes from MFC you should double check your project settings if you really link against correct MFC library.

There is only one MFC library on my system and it works correctly, since I've tested another mfc project with it. Paths to mfc includes/libs are specified correctly, no additional dependencies needed, project is created to use MFC in a shared DLL. What else is needed to be checked ? –  mangusta Mar 23 '13 at 22:10

Aha, now I see. The only difference between my project and the working one is that, the one that works correctly, has 'multi-byte character set' in its 'character set' option field, while my project has 'unicode character set' instead. So, all those errors above, are the result of compiling for unicode character set.

Interestingly, it is not possible to compile for unicode charset even if you don't pass any string to any function, although for example here, they say that if we want to compile for unicode charset, we may prefix the string with L or generic _T() macro. At least, I tried this on my VC++ but no success.

Did you also had a look at msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/wsdfs47e(v=vs.80).aspx? Again, the linker complains to find the version of each method witch takes wchar instead of char. –  j.holetzeck Mar 24 '13 at 9:53
    
hmmm, they say that unicode versions of MFC dynamic-link library are mfc80u.lib, mfcs80u.lib, but my libraries are mfc42u.lib and mfcs42u.lib. Is that the reason why I cannot compile for unicode charset ? –  mangusta Mar 24 '13 at 11:26
    
For VS 8 you should even find mfc90xxx.lib on your installation?! See msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/8kche8ah%28v=vs.90%29.aspx. –  j.holetzeck Mar 24 '13 at 11:46
    
Haha, actually I'm using VC++ 2008 Express edition which lacks MFC support, so I had to download winDDK and use its MFC42 library. Still I can compile for multi-byte charset successfully. –  mangusta Mar 24 '13 at 12:44
