I have Copied a pre-populated sqlite database from the bundle to the library path. Now when i try to execute the query it does not read the database.

Code for copying the database:

-(void)createDatabase
{
    NSString *libraryPath = [NSSearchPathForDirectoriesInDomains(NSLibraryDirectory, NSUserDomainMask, YES) lastObject];
    NSString *targetPath = [libraryPath stringByAppendingPathComponent:@"gre.db"];


    if (![[NSFileManager defaultManager] fileExistsAtPath:targetPath]) {
        // database doesn't exist in your library path... copy it from the bundle
        NSString *sourcePath = [[[NSBundle mainBundle] resourcePath] stringByAppendingPathComponent:@"gre.db"];

        }
    }
}

I call this from my applicationDidFinishLaunchLaunchingWithOptions and the database is copied

This is my query to read the database:

        }
    }
    sqlite3_finalize(statement);

    NSLog(@"%@",wordlist);

}

Now the control does not enter the *while (sqlite3_step(statement) == SQLITE_ROW)* loop Hence does not display the data.

Did you try pulling the data back from the device (or looking at it in the simulator) to verify that the contents were actually copied? – gaige Mar 28 '13 at 9:47
    
No. The database has been copied correctly to the Library path. But it does not enter the ....while (sqlite3_step(statement) == SQLITE_ROW)! – Chiran Mar 28 '13 at 9:48

check whether you have opened the database with correct path and DB name.. i cant see the code to open the DB in this method -(void)readDatabase thats y .... – Ganapathy Mar 28 '13 at 10:01

Use this code and check whether the database is connected and open properly before fetching the data from that. Hope this will help.

If your database file is in Resource Directory then try below code:

-(NSString*)databasePath
{
   NSString *dbPath = [[NSBundle mainBundle] pathForResource:"gre" forType:"db"];
   return dbPath;
}

Actually you are fetching wrong path for your DB.

Ganapathy your Code work great! But instead of opening the database before every select query,

I tried this in my code and it works like a charm!
