I just need clear steps on how to use it to find if a number is prime or not.

A possible implementation in VB.Net would be very helpful.

I think that this is not a programming question. The AKS algorithm is written in mathematical terms and can and should be explained without involving programming at all. Writing a program for it afterwards should be trivial. –  Lasse V. Karlsen Mar 28 '13 at 11:07

I'd suggest to read through the Wikipedia page for AKS, especially the algorithm part and refining the question, perhaps at Math SE if your problems are more of a mathematical nature.

Although all the math might scare you off at the first look and it isn't essential for an implementation, the linked paper gives some additional information and reasoning about the steps and the algorithmic correctness.

What you can do on this site is trying to implement the described algorithm, post your code and ask for more specific help (e.g. on computing the GCD, totient function or doing the modular exponentiations).

Learning by skimming through others code or just using it won't lead you as far as going through the whole process of understanding and implementing yourself.

"What you can do on this site..." is not really suited for an answer. I also have mixed feelings when someone simply refers to a Wikipedia page that can be done in a comment –  Alexander Mar 28 '13 at 12:00

Read the book Elementary Number Theory by David M. Burton. There's a good chapter about primality tests, and the rest of the book teaches the math to understand it.
