I am studying C for the coming Test and I am struggling with this.

The work is edit text file with these rule :

  • There is no space befor , . ! : ; ?
  • There is only one space after , . ! : ; ?
  • First letter after . ! ? muse be uppercase

I did solve the rule number 2 and 3.

But with 1st rule,the result is not as I expected on my code.After convert for rule 2 and 3,I reverse the content,then edit it,then revesre it again and put in the source_file.

I set a state,1 mean the previous character is , . ! : ; ?,0 is normal character The result is all space after , . ! : ; ? is delete,but space before , . ! : ; ? is still exist.

Where is the wrong in my code,pls help me out,sorry for long post :(

Have you condidered as Finite State Machine? (you only need to count spaces) –  wildplasser Apr 3 '13 at 16:39
    
How about checking if the next char is a ,.:!? when the current char is a blank and only writing the second char if true and writing both if false? –  Abu Dun Apr 3 '13 at 17:03
    
Suggestion: break your program in smaller groups of instructions (functions). –  pmg Apr 3 '13 at 18:54
    
Note that it must be int main(void), else you have a deprecated old-style K&R function definition there. –  Jens Apr 3 '13 at 19:01
    
ch should be declared int, not char. (char will make the EOF undetectable) –  wildplasser Apr 4 '13 at 17:43

Minimalistic state machine. Please note that there is no need for buffering previous characters, only remembering them (by means of state and spacecount)

I edited as your code but there is some problem,the program keep running and the file is not copied.Pls have a look and help me out :( –  Duc Anh Apr 4 '13 at 15:15
