hey i'm writing a simple shell that on getting SIGSTSP pause a process and continue on getting more commands. it saves the suspended process in a job list. when I try waking up the suspended process i get a segmentation fault, only after the (ex)suspended process deals with the SIGCONT signal.

this is my signalhandler

when i use a debuger it does not pass ctrl-z to my program. how can I change that? –  YotamDarash Apr 19 '13 at 21:53
    
You need to read more in the debugger documentation, your problems seems to be a pointer problem. (trying to access an address that is not assigned). –  Mehdi Karamosly Apr 19 '13 at 21:58

That is a lot of code for a signal handler function. Some of the functions called are not async-signal safe — notably, fork(), perror(), and printf(). The GetPid(), GetId(), InsertElem(), DelPID() functions are unknown quantities. Generally, you should do as little as possible in a signal handler. –  Jonathan Leffler Apr 19 '13 at 23:56

Even without being called from within a signal handler, the InsertElem() function looses part of the list. And as @JonathanLeffler said: printf() and malloc() should not be called fom inside a signal handler. And neither should your linkedList code be called from inside a signal handler. Just imagine what would happen if the signal would occur while the main program happens to be modifying the linked list ... –  wildplasser Apr 20 '13 at 11:22
