# solving ALGEBRA EXPRESSION in assembly 8086(MASM)

TASK: To take ALGEBRA expression form user and display the result after solving that expression. FOR EXAMPLE: ENTER YOUR EXPRESSION: (((2*3)+2)/4) result: 2

I have done a bit of coding and able to perform addition and subtraction, but having a bit of problem in multiplication and division. whenever I input a '*' or '/' sign it just doesn't take any further input. something is wrong in multiplication and division label and I dont know what's the error. can anyone please help me out. thanks!!

Up top, I would move `xor cx, cx` and `mov ah, 1` below the `@input:` label so that it gets done on every input character. –  500 - Internal Server Error Apr 29 '13 at 17:16
@500: You're exactly right, and should post that as the answer. Both the multiplication and division routines end up trashing the AH register, which will cause the next INT 21H call to do something that's not input. –  Jim Mischel Apr 29 '13 at 21:38
