Below is my nodejs script. All of a sudden running it with: sudo NODE_ENV=test node server.js gives:

What can I do to debug ?

Looks like your db configuration is wrong. I run this code with correct DB credential - work right –  Eugene May 7 '13 at 16:16

For get fully information about exceptions replace

console.log(err);

To:

console.err(err.stack)

And add if for err variable in connecttion.connect callback function.

Also you can add this code, for safy catch all exceptions:

I have added the suggested debug code. Now I get: at Handshake.Sequence.end (/www/test-front/webroot/node_modules/mysql/lib/protocol/sequences/Sequence.js:6‌​6:24) at Protocol.handleNetworkError (/www/test-front/webroot/node_modules/mysql/lib/protocol/Protocol.js:230:14) at Connection._handleNetworkError (/www/test-front/webroot/node_modules/mysql/lib/Connection.js:145:18) at Socket.EventEmitter.emit (events.js:117:20) at net.js:807:16 It works localy, db credentials are okay. Maybe nodejs or other package corrupted ? –  Bart May 7 '13 at 16:42
    
Try move io = require('socket.io').listen(app) after app.listen(). I use this order in my apps –  Eugene May 7 '13 at 16:53
    
It seems, websocket is just not writing: ` debug - cleared heartbeat timeout for client f0PHApuqQsxAcNonF1UV debug - set heartbeat interval for client f0PHApuqQsxAcNonF1UV debug - emitting heartbeat for client f0PHApuqQsxAcNonF1UV debug - websocket writing 2:: debug - set heartbeat timeout for client f0PHApuqQsxAcNonF1UV debug - got heartbeat packet ` –  Bart May 8 '13 at 7:48
    
Thanks for all reactions but I am back to using js/ajax with a settimeout loop to achieve the same.. Its just to buggy for me –  Bart May 8 '13 at 11:05
