Does anyone know how to read a python file in processing without using processing.py or other third party library or platform? I have a python file that can generate a text and want my processing read it real time. But it seems like there is something wrong with the “loadStrings” stuff since my three-line text are not generated at the same time, my third line is always showed a little bit slower than my first two lines so the processing sketch messed it up at some point. How to deal with the problem?

Does your Processing sketch work if you write a valid "output.txt" by hand? To avoid leaving only partially written "output.txt" file, write to a temporary file in your Python script and rename it at the end. –  J.F. Sebastian May 13 '13 at 3:02

You could use java's Runtime and Process class:

      Process p = Runtime.getRuntime().exec("python /path/to/your/script.py arguments");

      BufferedReader input = new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(p.getInputStream()));

      String line=null;

      while((line=input.readLine()) != null) {

      e.printStackTrace();
    }

so for example with a minimal ten.py:

I'd see a message printed 10 times:

Thanks, my code is get data from twitter, and it print out the message I grab. It shows"exit with error code 1" –  Douuga May 17 '13 at 2:45
