I am trying to parse a JSON / JavaScript Object into HTML... Most of it's working, but I can't figure out my recursive build method (App.Layout.Form.DocumentDirector)...

It keeps on nesting (appending) elements when it shouldn't. See example and code at http://jsfiddle.net/blogshop/DSxft/6/

Can someone help me figure it out? The build method is on line 408 (in the fiddle -- scroll down DocumentDirector just a bit to see it here). Thanks!

Lucas, your code is throwing an error Object #<Object> has no method 'toSource' , 9 out of 10 times that indicates you're using a NodeList (or another array like object) like an array. If you want to convert it to an array it's fairly easy but you need to do that. – Benjamin Gruenbaum May 21 '13 at 22:22

@Benjamin: The DocumentDirector.build() method isn't keeping track of levels correctly, so it keeps nesting elements when it shouldn't be... I just added my DOMBuilder object/function to the post above. Basically, DOMBuilder has a privateProperty, "currentNode", that it uses to keep track of the latest created element. Recursion down the tree is working fine, but not back up. If you inspect the fiddle, you'll see what I mean... – Lucas May 21 '13 at 22:32

Solved it -- For each successive recurse, I should have been appending the first child node (of the object passed in), and adding the remaining nodes. Added an isFirst variable to keep track.
