I'm working on an image processing project on the j2me platform. I have managed to apply simple effects, which do not involve convolution matrices, like sepia, grayscale, negative and posterize. I even managed to apply a blur effect using the convolution matrix:

int matrix[][] = {{1,1,1},{1,1,1},{1,1,1}}

But when i change the conv. matrix for Emboss Effect and Sketch Effect, i get unexpected results. Below is my code. Please let me know where I went wrong. I am using following convolution matrix:

  • for Emboss Effect: int matrix[][] = {{-18,-9,0},{-9,9,9},{0,9,18}}
  • for Edge detection: int matrix[][] = {{0,9,0},{9,36,9},{0,9,0}}
