i'm creating a simple timer,i have some basic knowledge about thread. i can stop the currently sunning thread by wait but can't able to notify it shows"illegalmonitorstateexception".

You can use wait() method for the synced class. synchronized(t1) { t1.currentThread().wait(); } –  huseyin tugrul buyukisik Jun 2 '13 at 19:43
    
i try that,the problem is in notify i think i only have to notify the thread it start again and i also check that the thread is alive when i notifying it.But it can't continue again after wait. –  sank Jun 2 '13 at 19:51

If I'm nothing forgot, it should be look something like this

well already try that one too and you can't use wait without a try-catch block.it throws a InterruptedException. –  sank Jun 3 '13 at 1:28
