I produced a graph which is almost perfect for me. But i`m stuck on how to remove the grid from the annotated areas geom_text(). I use geom_text for plotting my values and for annotating the plots.

The thing that i want is to remove the slope line and the grid from the annotation plots in the middle e.g. Mash_pear, tRap_pear, Beeml_pear and Mash_pear50. I only want to keep the names and remove the slope and grid, so a nice white/ broken white background and only the text annotation. I tried to add theme, to the aes of 2nd geom_text out of my function but that doesn't work, also i tried to use annotate() instead of geom_text() but this gave me a lot of aes() errors and such.

Isn't this just a pairs plot? Surely ggplot2 provided a pairs-type function? A bit of searching produced this: stackoverflow.com/questions/3735286/pairs-equivalent-in-ggplot2/… –  BondedDust Jun 3 '13 at 17:47
    
@DWin Indeed it is a pair plot, but when using the standard plot function i got a graph like the 1 above. So when trying to do this with GGplot2 i tried to reproduce the same as with plot() should be nice if i can do a ggpairs like youre example and get the same picture. You can use geom_rect() to add white rectangular above the line and grey background. Place this line between lines of facet_grid() and geom_text(). For this purpose you can use the same data frame df.text that is use to plot text labels.

thanks this does exactly what i want, 1 other thing that i came across, was how to remove the scales of those plots were i have white rectangular?? –  Sander Van der Zeeuw Jun 3 '13 at 13:00
    
I think that won't be easy to remove just scale for some facets because at the same time you also need to put scale for next nonwhite facet. –  Didzis Elferts Jun 3 '13 at 13:03
