I'm working on a ToDo list app to learn more about the Android app development process. I'm following an online tutorial, but I seem to be hitting an error with the SQLite Database stuff. It compiles fine, but it force closes as soon as it is run. Here is the logcat output:

db.close(); why are you closing in onCreate(SQLiteDatabase db)? –  Raghunandan Jun 7 '13 at 19:34

As i said in the comment you should remove the below from onCreate(SQLiteDatabase db) function

Remove db.close() in the below function

     @Override
     public void onCreate(SQLiteDatabase db) {

            + KEY_ID + " INTEGER PRIMARY KEY AUTOINCREMENT, " + KEY_TASKNAME

    //db.close(); // remove this line

Edit:

Add this in your db helper class. When you close you can call this function.

     public TaskerDbHelper open()throws SQLException
    {

    ourDatabase= this.getWritableDatabase();
    return this;
    }

To update

    db = new TaskerDbHelper(this);
    db.open();   
    db.updateTask(changeTask);

You don't need to call db.close in onCreate() function, after update and insert in your addTask() function. Never close db. At all. Remove db.close(); lines from the code.
