I want to implement a async ipc class by using named pipe. I can not distinguish server process and client process because two processes do the same work and could open at any time. So I use CreateFile first and determine if the pipe is existing by its return value. Everything seems good, but I got an error on ReadFile(GetLastError() returns 6, invalid handle).Here is my code:

I suspect the problem is that you're associating an I/O completion port with a handle which already has asynchronous I/O pending. I think you need to either (a) associate the I/O completion port to the handle before calling ConnectNamedPipe and use the completion port to detect when the connection is made; or (b) wait until the connection is made and then associate the I/O completion port to the handle. –  Harry Johnston Jun 25 '13 at 0:51
    
thanks! I found the error code and it does not in the code I showed. The problem is the class Request that inherited from OVERLAPPED has different memory layout from the original OVERLAPPED struct. sorry for my English... :) –  QingYun Jun 26 '13 at 14:19
