I am running the following script with the $ruby script_name command. The parent script spawns two child processes and waits for a SIGTERM or a SIGINT. The parent script is able to terminate the child processes as expected. However, on inspecting the child log I notice an error has been logged during exit. What causes such an error and how can I avoid them to exit cleanly?

Depending on the case, maybe something similar to this can help.

begin
  raise 'exception'
rescue Exception => e
  puts e.message
end

I recommend you read a little bit about exceptions, as it is easy to make mistakes.

So how do you propose to terminate the child process while catching the SystemExit exception of the child process when the exit function call is in the daemons gem library? – devil Jun 26 '13 at 9:21
