I have a method which creates a blank thumbnail for a Table View in which I am trying to center some text.

Centering horizontally is easy enough by drawing the invisible text, but nobody seems to illustrate how to center the text vertically. I've tried a few different things and nothing provides truly centered text.

How do I calculate the 'y' origin for CGContextShowTextAtPoint() which will result in the output text being centered vertically?

I have modified your method and made an 66 x 100 image size, I also removed the invisible option.

Now you'll see the image text centered vertically. Here you go:

Interesting bit of code but not quite what I'm looking for. I want the text to be displayed just like it is in my sample image, except moved up just a few pixels to the true vertical center of the context. –  Pat Jul 6 '13 at 23:36
    
sizeWithFont: to me is much better that doing the thing with invisible characters as suggested here –  Martin Berger Jul 15 '13 at 12:27
