# Trouble indexing lists of NUMPY arrays properly

I have a list of large arrays. Each array contains data. I also have another average array where each row contains the average of the each data array. For every row in the data array I want to subtract the averages for that row. A smaller example of what I am trying to to is shown below:

avgs = array([[ 13.9045,  13.9185,  13.963 ,  13.738 ,  13.714 ,  13.728 ],
[ 14.199 ,  14.2075,  14.247 ,  14.024 ,  14.007 ,  14.018 ],
[ 15.789 ,  15.852 ,  15.9035,  15.564 ,  15.5285,  15.5545]])

what I am trying to produce is this: (this is a very simple example with only two rows per array but essentially I want to subtract the average for the array from each row in the various data arrays.)

I tried to do this:

which was not successful. I am wondering if I am approaching this correctly.

The better thing to do would of course be to have not a list of arrays, but a higher dimensional array. In your case:
