I am using this code to get a continuous infinite stream of data from a source, process it and then send the processed infinite stream to the clients connected to my server. The problem is that tornado is only supporting one websocket connection but I want to forward the data to all the clients connected to my server. How do I support multiple clients?

What exactly are you doing in the "generating data" section and how? It is probably making a non-asyc call there. – daharon Jul 11 '13 at 19:20
i'm connecting to a TLS server that outputs an infinite data stream in xml format. I am processing the data I need into JSON. That's the generating data part. What I want to do is send that data to all the clients connected to my websocket but I do not want to have a separate connection to my TLS server for every client connected to my websocket. One connection to the TLS Server and the data generated is sent to all the clients connected to the websocket. let me know if any other detail is needed. :) – SinnerShanky Jul 12 '13 at 3:03

As the code is now, it just reads and processes line-by-line. You'll have to modify the process method to keep track of certain events for them to influence the processing of subsequent lines. To drop certain input you will need to modify the stream reader base class where it calls write_message. – daharon Jul 15 '13 at 21:38
There's one problem that arises while running the code. After a certain amount of time code keeps on running but doesn't read any data from the source server. I used the debugger to check and it seems that it get's stuck in the ioloop.py How do I overcome this? Getting stuck in such a way defeats my purpose. – SinnerShanky Jul 22 '13 at 14:28
Now that Tornado is at v4 and recommends using the new asyncio module I moved to Python 3.4 which breaks this otherwise excellent piece of code. You must now encode all strings from and to "utf-8" that would be in your _random_stuff routine \ self.stream.write(output.encode("utf-8")) \..... – Thomas Browne Oct 20 '14 at 22:35
