I am reading Joseph Howse's "OpenCV Computer Vision with Python" and trying examples from the book along the way. One of the examples is showing how to read a video from an avi file and how to write it to a I420 format. I modified the example a little to do both writing and displaying in a window at the same time. Displaying in a window works just fine, however I faced two issues:
- When reading frames, the while loop is never interrupted when reaching the end of file, but loops to the beginning, unless I trigger stop by a mouse click event
- The I420 file is not written. I get a small unplayable file at the output and that's it
- If I choose WRLE or 8BPS codecs, then everything works just fine and I get proper output files, but I want to understand what I need to do to enable I420 and many other formats.
From searching similar topics I found that one option would be to install opencv with ffmpeg option, but I have no idea how to do that on Mac. I installed opencv with a help of brew
