We have a system integrated with Rhino JavaScript engine. We can upload JavaScript files to to deal with certain set of Data.

I need to truncate a string based on pixel width, to avoid it expands a limited size box. But It is impossible to hard-code a character length because the length depends on the character.

If this is a normal browser based HTML application, I could have used the help of SPAN or DIV width, to write a function. But in my case I cannot use any HTML elements. So I am planing to write a function by keeping an array of pixel widths of each character. (In my case I only need Arial Normal 10px).

But I couldn't find a resource to get the pixel widths of Arial. Can anyone share a good link?

If you know a better or easy solution, please let me know.

Found a solution :-) I wrote the width array Programmatically.

In C# I used MeasureString() method

    Font stringFont = new Font("Arial", 10);
