Since the pre-load database is a little bit large, I would like to add a spinning wheel progress dialog when loading the database for the first time. Coding as follows:

MainActivity:

if no AsyncTask, it works ok, but the screen will be locked / black out when loading the initDB:

Question:

I would like to just adding a simple spinning wheel progress dialog when loading the database...but it fails and reports the above logcat.

if I remove directly write initDB(); in onCreate, the database can be loaded properly, and so extracting all database data should have no problem.

If then how could the above problem be solved? Many thanks!!

@Shobhit Puri: thanks for your reply! I put the db.close() inside the DatabaseHelper...the fillDB() is to load some preset database for the user when first loaded, after finish putting the data to DB, it is then closed. please see the updated fillDB() shown above.
