According to the documentation here,

$.proxy() unbinds the correct function if the context is specified as the original object.

However am not getting this. The first example given on the same page explains this at line 43 as follows:

/* this === "zombie"; handler unbound after first click */
.on( "click", $.proxy( me.test, me ) )

What all I can understand is that when I click first time, because the parameter to $.proxy is a function of me and the second parameter is me only, it unbinds this association after first click.

Though am reading it like that, I am not getting what exactly is getting unbound from what? When I click on the button second time, it doesn't show the output of above line, as if this specific onclick handler is removed from chain. However binding handler to event is the function of $.on() not of the $.proxy(). Then whats happening behind the scene.

To experiment this behavior I built this simple JSFiddle. From what I understand it should not show the line

fun1 : [object HTMLButtonElement] : fun1

in the output after first click. But it continues to show the line. So am sure am understanding it wrong. Where am wrong?

Ok am quite confused here. So just posting exact thing am not grasping. The exact words from documentation;

Additionally, jQuery makes sure that even if you bind the function returned from >jQuery.proxy() it will still unbind the correct function if passed the original.

Be aware, however, that jQuery's event binding subsystem assigns a unique id to each event handling function in order to track it when it is used to specify the function to be unbound. The function represented by jQuery.proxy() is seen as a single function by the event subsystem, even when it is used to bind different contexts. To avoid unbinding the wrong handler, use a unique event namespace for binding and unbinding (e.g., "click.myproxy1") rather than specifying the proxied function during unbinding.

However this mainly talks about jQuery's event subsystem, and I dont understand exactly where the functionality of unbind the correct function if passed the original is handled, since when I dig into the code of the $.proxy() what all I can spot relating to this is generating and assigning the guid, thats it.

Here is the code for the $.proxy() from jquery-1.10.2.js:

Am not understanding what the code separated by starred comments do.

when you pass a function reference to off it should remove only that function from the handler list –  Arun P Johny Jul 30 '13 at 13:07
    
ok can please explain me what does the documentation mean here what will be unbound from what and when and explain how that is happening in the example they have given, or just provide simple hello world kinda example explaining the same, I feel off() another unnecessary complexity –  Mahesha999 Jul 30 '13 at 13:55
