I have created a term document matrix using the tm package and have used the below code to identify keyword correlation

tdm2 - is my term doc matrix

text    Var1    Var2    Var3    Var4
Music   0       0       0       0
ableton 0       0       1       0
bass    1       0       0       0
blues   1       0       0       0
drums   0       0       0       0
fun     0       0       0       0
history 0       0       0       0

a - is list of words for which I need to find correlated words

The below code works

aa <- as.data.frame(findAssocs(tdm2,a[1], 0.15),stringsAsFactors = FALSE)
  aa$text <- rownames(aa)
  aa$word <- a[1]
  names(aa) <- c("Corr","text","word")

when I try to automate the same using

for (i in 1:n){

    a1 <- findAssocs(tdm2,a[i], 0.15)
    a2 <- as.data.frame(a1,stringsAsFactors = FALSE)
    a2$text <- rownames(a2)
    a2$word <- a[i]
    names(a2) <- c("Corr","text","word")
    aa <- rbind(aa,a1)
  }

I get the below error

Error in `$<-.data.frame`(`*tmp*`, "word", value = "100") : 
  replacement has 1 rows, data has 0

can anyone tell me why?

I´m not sure but I think the problem is that somewhere in your loop you do not find a associated term with correlation >0.15, this than returns numeric(0) and later this will make a data frame without anything in it. Add after the first line in your loop if(length(a1)==0){ a1 <- NA} and try again – holzben Aug 13 '13 at 7:13
