I'm getting duplicates when I self join on my fact table. What I'm looking to do is join on the fact table twice to produce some aggregate totals. My sql results are returning duplicate projects only when I join on the fact table for the percentage and production aggregates. There may be a better way to do this. I'm up for suggestions. (DB2)

There is probably a better way to do this. I would suggest editing your question to include sample data and desired results. Self-joining a fact table doesn't seem like it would be the best approach. –  Gordon Linoff Sep 4 '13 at 14:57

Note that you should avoid upper-bound inclusive checks, for the reasons outlined in this blog post. Although it specifically details SQL Server, some versions of DB2 allow variable-precision timestamps, making all the advice relevant. Note that your second part in the WHERE clause is a day less than a year, which is suspicious/unlikely. It's also good to keep in mind for all types of ranges, as the problems aren't unique to date/time/timestamp values. –  Clockwork-Muse Sep 5 '13 at 12:51

I discovered that the having clause was really not needed so I was able to remove a table join for the percentage aggregation and calculate the percentage outside a self join. This removed the duplicates.
