I have a user control that has a panel where I want to do some paint operations at run time. I want to know how I should deal with the paint event of user control's panel when I place it to the form. Because the paint event does not work correctly, and it ruins the control when I keep it to the form.

This is my paint event for the panel in usercontrol's

But when I write this paint event and after completing keeps the control to the form, it destypes and say some error, that drawBasketItems has object reference not set to an instance of object.

Why are you invalidating the form in itemPnl_Paint? That's asking for a redraw of the whole form. And since your error seems to be happening in drawBasketItems() could you show us the code it uses? –  Corey Sep 13 '13 at 6:26

Most obvious thing to check is that Program.currOrder has a valid value at the time that you call drawBasketItems(). If it is null it will cause an exception at the foreach (cOrderItem item in currOrder.OrderItems) line. –  Corey Sep 13 '13 at 6:35
    
but if i uncomment the drawBaketItems and compile it tells this object reference error. –  NoviceToDotNet Sep 13 '13 at 6:36
    
This error i am getting at compile time..when i compile and keep my control to the form it ruins and says object reference not set to an instance of object and some stack track like.. –  NoviceToDotNet Sep 13 '13 at 6:48
