I am creating a GCM Client based on the sample provided here - http://www.androidhive.info/2012/10/android-push-notifications-using-google-cloud-messaging-gcm-php-and-mysql/ and here - http://developer.android.com/google/gcm/client.html. Basically, it just does what first example do, but I updated it to use GoogleCloudMessaing API.

As server, I used the example php server used in the first link. But when I send message via the php script, I don't receive any message on my device.

In server side, I modified config.php file with my mysql password and Google API key.

I manually created an entry in gcm_users table so that I don't have to send registration ID from my app. The table contains regId, name, email as mentioned in the first link.

Then I send a message from my index.php page but the message is never received.

I have verified that I am properly registered with gcm server and server returns registration id to my app. Main part of this RegisterActivity.java file:

Right after registration, my app receives a broadcast message with registration Id.

I am running the server on my local PC with IP address (There is no public IP). Output from IPtables -

So what am I missing? Any help will be appreciated.

You GCMIntentService is not like GCM said...
