I have a set of data points with three parameters for each that I call, col1, col2, and ew. What I want is a col1 vs. col2 plot with patches of different colors for different ranges on ew. What I do now is just filtering ew and plot data points individually as below:
steps = linspace(min(ew), max(ew), steps_no) for i in range(0, steps_no): for j in range(1, len(ew)): if (ew[j]>=(steps[i-1])) and (ew[j]<(steps[i])): plot1 = plot(col1[j], col2[j], color=(1, i*1./steps_no, 1.-(i*1./steps_no), 1)
which gives me nice areas of different colors corresponding to different ew s. But what I actually need is to fill the area between the data points for each i. I cannot use fill_between because I do not have the analytical relation between col1, col2, and ew. In MATLAB, iterating over patch(col1, col2, steps[i]) does what I want but it seems that patches in matplotlib do not work the same way!
