There are two problems I know about:

I don't know how to properly overload an operator (parentheses in this case). I want the operator overload to call the private member function 'isprime::path'. What is the correct method?

I keep getting an error message concerning using the isprime class member function 'isprime::start' in the main function, apparently because it lacks an object, which seems untrue to me.

  1. when you declare operator () you need to specify a return type.

  2. When you define it you need to qualify with isprime

  3. When you call start you need an object

two changes. In the declaration of isprime

bool operator()( const int p );

and in the definition:

bool isprime::operator()( const int p )
{
    return test(p);
}

Edit: As noted below. To call a member function (non-static) you must have an object of that type.

    {

The function call operator is a member of the class isprime and so you should indicate that:

bool isprime::operator()(const int p)
{
    return test(p);
}

The way you wrote the code there is no way to know the operator is a member of isprime. Also don't forget to specify a return type for that operator I have deduced it should be bool and that is the type I used above.

The second error you get is because you try to use an instance method without an instance. Either create an instance of isprime and call the method of it or declare start as static. From what I see I guess you need an instance.
