How could I create a 3D binary matrix/image from a surface mesh in Matlab?

For instance, when I create ellipsoid using:

[x, y, z] = ellipsoid(0,0,0,5.9,3.25,3.25,30);
```

X, Y and X are all 2D matrix with size 31 x 31.
