# FPTree insert method (frequent itemset datamining)

I am trying to implement the FPGrowth algorithm for frequent itemset data mining. I am currently trying to write my insert method.

The basic algorithm I am trying to follow is such: (found at http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/Data_Mining_Algorithms_In_R/Frequent_Pattern_Mining/The_FP-Growth_Algorithm)

The function insert tree([ p | P], T ) is performed as follows. If T has a child N such that N.item-name = p.item-name, then increment N ’s count by 1; else create a new node N , with its count initialized to 1, its parent link linked to T , and its node-link linked to the nodes with the same item-name via the node-link structure. If P is nonempty, call insert tree(P, N ) recursively.

Here is the code I have so far:

Also, here is what my tree and Node look like:

How would I add a new Node to T's children? Also, I'm confused as to how I would make a recursive call. The `List<Tuple<string, int>>` is the list of sorted frequent 1-itemsets with string being the name of the item and int being the count in the tree (initialized to 1).
