I am new to D3 api.I have to make a tree like structure which have a json file where the values are hardcoded,and I have a servlet where I am getting some values from database and there I have to make the json dynamically in the servlet and have to set the response back to the D3.This is my html where I have written the d3..I am able to create json using java class but can not call this from the D3.js,This is my java file and the created json and also my html file.....

this is the json and the html file, now I have to make the json dynamically and set the response back to the D3 api.Anyone please help...

This code is retrieving the JSON file from your server using an AJAX request:

d3.json("graph.json", function(error, json) {
    root = json;
    update(); //responsible for creating the layout
});

Right now the URL you're using will simply grab a static file named "graph.json" from the same location as the HTML file on the server. You can change this URL to one that invokes doGet in your servlet and then make doGet return the dynamic JSON you want.

i am able to make json dynamically with java,the json which is forming is also tree structure.but i can not call that json class from my D3.js.am posting my Java class and the generated json. – lucifer Oct 25 '13 at 7:01
    
Why can't you invoke the servlet from your JS? The doGet method in a servlet is invoked via URL. d3.json takes a URL as the first argument. Am I missing something? – Scott Cameron Oct 25 '13 at 15:28

If you replace the HTML file name in your browser URL with "ActionServlet" do you get a bunch of JSON back? That would be the first thing to check. – Scott Cameron Oct 25 '13 at 20:56
